The McHenry Public Library is the first library in McHenry County to participate in the Court Access Library Center program, which is a partnership aimed to enable libraries throughout the state to provide new resources to the public by assisting patrons with navigating the legal system.
Staff members at the McHenry Public Library can assist users of the court system by providing general information about court rules, terms and procedures; providing technical assistance to allow you to appear before the Court remotely; assist electronically filing your court documents (or assisting with getting an exemption from eFiling); helping you find free or low cost legal help; help identify what court forms you may need; help you ask for an interpreter for your court appearance.
Library staff members cannot provide legal advice, they cannot represent you in court, including during your remote appearance, they cannot refer you to a lawyer or firm that charges fees, they cannot give an opinion about what will happen in court, or tell you if a case should be filed.
Visit the McHenry Public Library Court Access Library Center at 809 Front Street (Route 31), McHenry, IL 60050.
