McHenry County has launched a new SAFE-T Act dashboard that provides the public with a transparent and accurate representation of key performance indicators from court data. The dashboard includes important data such as Arresting Agency, Most Serious Charge, Class of Offense, Petitions to Detain Filed by the McHenry County State’s Attorney and Petitions to Detain Granted by the Court.
“Other counties have published similar information. Our goal of creating a McHenry County dashboard was to provide the public with up-to-date information on defendants, cases, and court orders to show how the new SAFE-T Act is working here in McHenry County,” said McHenry County Circuit Clerk Kathy Keefe.
Back in September, Illinois became the first state in the nation to eliminate the cash bail system. Under a sweeping public safety reform bill known as the SAFE-T Act, judges are no longer requiring individuals charged with certain offenses to post bail while awaiting trial. However, if the person charged is shown to be a threat to public safety or likely to flee prosecution, the judge can order the person held in jail while proceedings against them continue..
